The Open Sky

The Open Sky

By: Alexis Leasy

Winter slows and trees defrost

But People never forget about the ones they lost

Warmer days bring hope at little cost

And hearts begin to heal within springs gloss

As the sun comes out and snowdrifts fades

People smile a little more and more each day

Winters deep is here no more

And people wander freely to the shore

Where laughter lingers, brighter than before

Joy returns in ways they’d missed before

New buds awaken, reaching for the light

And dreams once dim begin to shine so bright

The world feels fresh beneath the open sky

As hope takes wing and teaches hearts to fly
